Personal Anecdote
I was walking into art class in 7th grade and- Lo and behold- I saw my 6th grade student-teacher! She was substituting for my regular art teacher (I was happy about that because my regular art teacher was harsh and short-tempered). As the children walked in, she said their names to prove that she remembered them. She remembered everyone's name (She even knew the name of the new student she hadn't met before) but she didn't remember my name. Story of my life!
Names: Another thing for us to forget
I'm horrible at remembering names.
Names are the one thing I can't ever remember... and guess what?
Nobody remembers my name either!
What did you say? Cody?
NO! My name's Koby! I told you twice and you still can't understand me!
People seem to want to say my name wrong, and thats how it developed to be a pet peeve of mine.
Many of you have addressed me as Kody and Kobe in your comments, even though my name is written right up there at the top of the page!

Yes, its alright, I get that often. For future reference though, I am me! Not my older sibling!
If you are an only child, you might not understand this, but if you have an older sibling that is your gender, you know exactly what i'm talking about. Most of the time it comes from teachers. Calling you by your big brother or big sister's name.
Names: The Positive Side
The one good thing I have to say about names is this:
Nicknames are great fun. You don't know this but my name isn't legally Koby. Everybody calls me Koby but that isn't my legal first name. It's a nickname.
I know a guy named Alex who, since 4th grade, introduces himself only as "G" to those he meets. Why does he do this? Well... thats a story for another time.

Yeah got that riddle. Had to think for one second. What I do to remember names is repeat it at least three times when I meet someone. Using it right away usually helps.
Personally, I might remember their name and use it in a conversation, but the next conversation i have with them, i will have forgotten that name.
Alex has been G since 4th grade? I could have sworn it was later than that.... Cool article. I have problems with people spelling my name right too.

Hate to be technical, but Koby is not truly a nickname. It is your legal middle name.

Haven't you ever heard of creative license? :D
At camp, people kept calling me "Aliana" even though I kept correcting them. It was annoying. I should be used to it...but I'm not. xP. Also, everyone tries to shorten my name to "Ellie," but I hate that.
oh, really? I like "Ellie".
